General Petrenko was involved with the criminal investigation into the crash or possible shoot down by Israel of a Russian military AN-26 on March 6, 2018 in Syria. As spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, Petrenko told TASS: “The Russian Investigative Committee’s military investigators have launched a criminal case under Section 351 of Russia’s Criminal Code (Violation of flight rules or Preparations for Them),” committee’s spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko told Russian news agency TASS
